There are many different joints in your body.
One joint is called a Ball-and-socket joint. This joint allows the greatest range of motion. In your shoulder, the top of the arm bone fits into a deep socket of the scapula which is the shoulder blade. This joint allows you to swing your arm freely in a circle.
Another joint is called "Hinge joint." This joint allows extensive forward or backward motion. Your knee is a hinge joint that allows you to bend and straighten your leg.
The next joint is called Pivot joint. A pivot joint allows one bone to rotate around another. This joint is located at the top of your neck and that gives you limited ability to turn your head side to side.
The last joint is called the "Gliding joint." This joint allows one bone to slide over another. The gliding joint in your wrist enables you to bend your wrist.
